Making Space for Feelings and Needs
This is an invitation to explore your inner landscape through an ancient Indian art form and Nonviolent Communication. Rangoli is traditional art at the entrance of a home. Made with rice flour and often adorned with flowers and lamps, these intricate patterns can transform an ordinary threshold into a place of beauty and welcome. The act of creating it can also invite a quality of attention that is quiet, focused, and present.
Rangoli of the Heart draws inspiration from this quality of presence.
Together, we’ll slow down and explore an experience, relationship, or situation that has brought up painful feelings or has been difficult to work with. Through color, pattern, and Nonviolent Communication, we’ll make space to notice what is alive within us and listen for the feelings and needs underneath. What might emerge when there is space to be curious rather than judge, to listen rather than fix, and to meet our inner experience with compassion?
There will be time for quiet reflection as well as empathic connection with others—moving between solitude and community, expression and listening.
Please bring drawing or painting paper and coloring tools of your choice.
